JM 2.0 (JokeMachine)   09.29.07

A Macross inspired piece I did back in 2005, which took a grueling 6 months to complete. Definately one of the most difficult projects that I've done so far. The design phase itself took nearly a month to complete. It was a constant tug a war between form and function.

There's well over 80 parts to the design and the majority of the pieces were put together with screws or pins. I think glue was used on only 3 - 4 parts (for some reason I was highly against using glue at the time). There's right about 20 - 21 points of articulation (another obsession I had at the time).

The project was terminated 2-3 months after the prototype was finished due to licensing issues. There are roughly a dozen resin production pieces out there total. One blue version, about 10 white versions, and one yellow version. The yellow version was used for testing purposes. Mainly to see if the molds were performing properly.
